Thursday, August 15, marks the arrival of ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s co-headlining “The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour” at Syracuse’s Empower FCU Amphitheater at Lakeview. The Outlaws, a special guest, will open the show at 6:30 p.m.
Not able to attend their concert in Syracuse? Other Upstate New York destinations for “The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour” are scheduled for August 16 at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel and September 12 at Buffalo’s Darien Lake Amphitheater.
At the time of posting, prices and availability were mentioned; however, they could change.
Here is a full schedule of “The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour” dates for ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, known for Southern rock anthems like “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Freebird” and “Simple Man,” previously did a farewell tour in 2019 but apparently nothing can stop the band.
Singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backing vocalist Cassie Gaines were famously killed in a 1977 plane crash and Gary Rossington, the last surviving original member, died in 2023. The lineup today features Johnny Van Zant, Ronnie’s brother, who said the band would continue touring without Rossington.
Bluesy rock group ZZ Top have also had their fair share of hits in the ‘70s and ‘80s, including “La Grange,” “Tush,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” “Legs,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’” and “Cheap Sunglasses.”
Too much live music for you? There are more touring artists than only ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd. See other beloved performers like Imagine Dragons, Sabrina Carpenter, Childish Gambino, Taylor Swift, and Chappell Roan; they all know how to put on a memorable concert.
