With Week 3 coming soon, the Detroit Lions have a chance to get another win and avoid falling down the standings further. Even if that’s the case, there’s one NFL stat that are leaving fans of the franchise worried about the team’s performance on the field.

The Lions faced a tough challenge against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ultimately falling 20-16 at Ford Field. Despite two late opportunities to secure a win, the Lions were unable to convert, turning the ball over on downs twice in the final moments. Head coach Dan Campbell expressed frustration over a first-half mistake that led to confusion and a penalty, costing the team a chance at a crucial field goal.

Jared Goff struggled, throwing two interceptions and missing additional opportunities, finishing with 307 yards on 34 completions out of 55 attempts. Meanwhile, quarterback Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers effectively, completing 12 of 19 passes for 185 yards, including a pivotal 41-yard touchdown to Chris Godwin.

The Lions initially took the lead with a touchdown from David Montgomery, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their errors. Aidan Hutchinson had a standout performance, recording five sacks, showcasing his defensive prowess. Despite the loss, Amon-Ra St. Brown was a bright spot for the Lions, catching 11 passes for 119 yards.

Along with their loss to Tampa Bay, it has been revealed that Detroit’s performance in the red zone is already concerning. According to Brad Gagnon for Bleacher Report, the Lions’ 27.3 percent rank near the bottom in that metric.
