Yes, the Braves did not have the best of weekends against the Phillies.
However, they are still very much in control of their own playoff destiny. And with a more favorable schedule on the horizon for the next week and a half and 11 of their next 13 games at home, Atlanta is in good position to go on another run of frequently winning.
And that is the key, as with how other National League teams are playing as the MLB teams enter the home stretch of the season, the Braves cannot afford to play like they did early in the month of August. Their pitching must remain near the top of the league in terms of production, while the offense continues to produce power but also improve with runners in scoring position. It would also help if the Braves best players, such as Matt Olson and Rasiel Iglesias, carried over their excellent work from August in September.
At the moment, outside of another NL East title, every goal the Braves set out to achieve at the start of this season is still achievable. And before the series against the Phillies, they were playing their best baseball of the year. Heck, they easily could have won 3 out of 4 in Philly, but it was not meant to be.
Simply put, the Braves just need to play winning baseball, and they are favored to do exactly that in many of their upcoming games. Hopefully, the needed results will come and the winning ways will once again get the Braves off to a good start in September.
