This isn’t the Travis Kelce we know. The Kansas City Chiefs star has been unusually quiet to start the season. In three games, Kelce only has eight catches for 69 yards with no touchdown. Those are historically low numbers for Kelce. Is Kelce fretting about his lack of production? Well apparently, that’s not the case. In fact, the Chiefs star is highly supportive of how the team is functioning, even with his limited production. “In the meantime, sources say Kelce has told the Chiefs coaches to keep it rolling with the players getting touches, rather than demanding the ball,” Ian Rapoport reported.”He’s confident enough in the product he puts on the field and knows this is what the team needs. The team feeds off his energy.”

While Kelce’s production has taken a sharp dip, the rest of the team has flourished behind him. Rashee Rice has evolved into an elite threat, amassing 228 yards through three games with two touchdowns. Xavier Worthy has also been an excellent addition to the team, with the rookie using his explosiveness to his advantage.

Even Kelce’s fellow tight ends have benefitted. Noah Gray continues to be a solid outlet for Patrick Mahomes. The attention that Kelce’s getting on the field has opened up opportunities for other players to succeed, and they’re capitalizing on that. The Chiefs star will get a chance to get back on track against a familiar foe. Kansas City will be going up against a Los Angeles Chargers team that will be without one of their top secondary players in Derwin James.
