After a big win over Furman to open the season last week, Ole Miss football returned to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to face Middle Tennessee State in week two.

The Rebels prolific and balanced offense was once again unstoppable in their matchup against the Blue Raiders, and the Rebels won 52-3.

Jaxson Dart entered his name into the record books Saturday, completing his first 24 passes to set an SEC record for consecutive completions in a game; he just two completions short of the NCAA record.

“I think the biggest thing is, as a quarterback, you’ve got to be the leader,” Dart said. “And you know, I’ve always felt like the quarterback’s one that sets the tone for the unit, the offensive unit as a whole. So, I felt like, if I don’t bring it every single day, then we might be able to slip up and may have some unusual mistakes. And I feel like with opportunity that we have that can’t happen.”

Dart’s early stats have credit a Heisman case for the senior. In two games, Dart is 47-54 passing for 795 yards and six touchdowns. Lane Kiffin credits his early success to the work he did in the off-season.

“What he does all off-season — he is up here all week long, in every area, and I just love it, because he prepares each game like it’s the national championship, and he did it this week,” Kiffin said. “And it’s just really good when something pays off like that.”

Dart wasn’t the only Rebel to have a career day, running back Henry Parrish Jr., who transferred from Miami (Fla.) this off-season, ran for 165 yards on 14 carries with four touchdowns.

“It feels good, knowing I put it work in, day in and day out, every day I come in and work; I don’t complain, I don’t do nothing, I just I work,” Parrish Jr. said. “I grind, I grind hard, and you’ll see it on the field.”
