The Detroit Lions will likely be without one of their key defenders for their upcoming matchup on Monday night.
The Lions will face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, but they could be without star cornerback Brian Branch. Branch was added to the injury report due to an illness and is listed as doubtful. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared the news via Twitter/X.
Last week, Branch suffered a concussion but was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice and a full participant for the next two days. His participation in practice led him to be cleared to play, but with this new development, he could miss his first game of the season.
With Branch now under the weather, the Lions will now likely turn to Brandon Joesph as he could see extra opportunities in the secondary. Through three games, Branch leads the NFL with seven pass breakups, while also securing an interception, and 16 tackles, two of which were for loss. Although Joesph has shown that he is more than capable of holding things down in the meantime, the duo of Branch and Joesph has been lethal thus far. Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn spoke on his two cornerbacks’ dynamic together.
