Simon Price on ‘murky, dirty, corrupt industry’ behind selling tickets for arena gigs and on researching his tome on ‘the biggest alternative rock band in the world’
Simon Price is talking to me about his latest book, a deep dive into the Cure which took three years to write and is half the length of the Bible. It will make an enriching accompaniment to the band’s long-awaited new album, Songs of a Lost World, due for release on November 1. Alone, their first song in 16 years, is out today.
“It sort of spiralled out of control,” the Welsh music journalist says, describing the literal shedload of research material he amassed. “The more I looked at the Cure, the more there was to see. The more I zoomed in, the more complexities I saw, and it kept leading me down these obscure rabbit holes of research. And I love that stuff.”
