Joey Logano has addressed the impact of the charter lawsuit filed against NASCAR by 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports. The Penske driver claims to be unaffected by the ongoing lawsuit and is focused on winning his third Cup Series championship.
Michael Jordan’s 23XI and FRM are the only two Cup teams not to comply with the charter proposal. Moreover, they have filed an antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR and CEO Jim France. The monopolistic approach of the governing body is the main foundation of the lawsuit.Among several members of the NASCAR community, Joey Logano shared his thoughts when asked if the teams could get “more leniency” or “less leniency.” To which the 34-year-old responded:
[It] doesn’t affect me and that does not. You know, like I said, we have a championship we’re trying to win right now and we’re focused 100% on that,” Logano said in a conversation with Bob Pockrass on X.
Furthermore, the #22 Ford driver deems it a big storyline for NASCAR as a sport. He added:
“I understand this is huge for our sport no matter what happens. It’s obviously big because we’ve never seen it before. But I’m not close enough to even know what’s going on or really even know the truth behind any of it.”
Logano, on the run for this Cup Series title, started the playoffs with a win at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Ahead of the Talladega race, he is ranked at P8 and four points above the playoff cut-line.
