The Golden State Warriors are now 10-20 over the course of their last 30 contests following a disappointing 118-108 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night, positioning the franchise to make a massive trade and right the ship before season’s end.
Possessing a 22-23 overall record and placement as the Western Conference’s No. 11 seed, it has become obvious that Golden State’s general manager Mike Dunleavy needs to negotiate a deal to land star help, with a specific need for an established scoring option outside of Stephen Curry
With the Warriors now in peril of missing out on the Play-In Tournament with Curry and Draymond Green in their twilight years, Dunleavy could contact the Washington Wizards in order to hammer out the details on a trade to acquire their offensive-minded forward and NBA champion, Kyle Kuzma.
The likelihood of Golden State reaching out to inquire about the 29-year-old may also be heightened due to the combo-forward’s reported desire to force his way out of Washington.
“I think today I just decided to be myself and not really just try to fit into everything that we’re doing here, and just really played in the moment,” Kuzma shared on Sunday according to The Athletic’s Josh Robbins.
“I mean just not trying to fit into what we’re trying to do here. Just being more assertive, demanding the ball, not just going out there and trying to let people develop. Just playing my game.”
The Wizards had already planned on becoming sellers prior to the Feb. 6 trade deadline, but Kuzma’s recent comments could put pressure on the organization to quickly get a deal done regardless of the yielded return.
