Georgia football and Kirby Smart have one of the top recruiting classes in the country coming in once again. According to 247Sports, Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class is No. 4 in the country, behind Texas, Alabama and Oregon. And while UGA’s goal is to finish with the top recruiting class, No. 4 is still a very solid class.
There are many players in this class to be extremely excited about, especially the handful of five-star players coming in. But arguably the most exciting player is five-star wide receiver Talyn Taylor.
Taylor is the first five-star wide receiver to commit to Georgia since 2019, which is reason enough to be very excited about his arrival this offseason. But to make it even more exciting, Taylor was just named the Chicago Sun-Times 2024 Player of the Year.
Talyn Taylor’s impressive senior season
Taylor had one of the best senior seasons out of any of the incoming Georgia recruits as he led his team to the Illinois 6A state title game. He finished this season with 84 receptions for 1,617 yards and 24 touchdowns. Taylor was also able to show off his elite athleticism by returning to kicks for touchdowns as well.
Taylor’s arrival in Athens comes at the perfect time as the Georgia wide receivers struggled all season long this year. And with many of the receivers departing after this season, Taylor will immediately be able to compete for serious playing time next fall.
Now with any freshman, they should not be expected to be major contributors during their true freshman season. However, Georgia always has a few freshman that excel in their first seasons, and Taylor feels like one of the most likely candidates to have a big season next fall.
Hopefully that is what ends up happening, because UGA will be replacing Carson Beck next year with a new QB, so any help that new QB can get the better.
