In April, the Detroit Lions extended the contracts of All-Pro wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown and All-Pro offensive lineman Penei Sewell, making them the highest-paid players at their positions.

Next on the list is likely quarterback Jared Goff, who guided the team to its first division title in 30 years and first two playoff victories in 32 years during the 2023 season.

The three-time Pro Bowler is due to make $27.3 million in 2024, but his contract expires at the end of the season. During his visit on WXYT on Thursday, Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes revealed the status of Goff’s deal.

“In a perfect world, we’d have had all three of them done, bang, bang, bang,” Holmes said of Brown, Sewell, and a potential Goff contract. He said that he has “faith that it’s going to get done.”

“First and foremost, he’s earned an extension,” Holmes told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “It’s important, it’s a high priority for us and both sides are working really, really hard and these things just take time.”

Last season, Goff set career highs in completions (407) and completion percentage (67.3), with 4,575 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions for a passer rating of 97.9.
