In order to help the team deal with a “awful” injury situation, Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers of Rangers have been given higher expectations.

In order to overhaul his forward line, Michael Beale went out almost £12 million to buy the international strikers from Italian teams, but since their signings, both have had difficulty establishing themselves at Ibrox.

However, former striker Boyd told the Scottish Sun on September 30 that now is their chance to shine and prove to the supporters what they are capable of because Kemar Roofe and Danilo are presently sidelined due to injuries.

At Rangers, Dessers and Lammers haven’t exactly set the heather ablaze. However, a terrible injury list appears to be giving them a fantastic chance to launch their Ibrox careers. The pair were acquired from Serie A by Beale for close to £6 million in the summer. The attacking team hasn’t even come close to covering those costs thus far.

Yes, 13 games into what might be a long season, it’s still relatively early for them, but how long can we keep saying that? When you join Rangers, you don’t have a lot of time. And none of the Scottish football fans have the best patience.

Naturally, you’ll have some time to adjust, but given that October is quickly approaching, this is the perfect opportunity for Lammers and Dessers to demonstrate their abilities. Given that Danilo, Cantwell, Dowell, Lawrence, Matondo, and now Roofe are all injured, they appear to have a long run in the team.

Now or never

Rangers fans are always supportive of their own, especially when they’re wearing the shirt, but if these two can’t step up now then there will be big question marks about whether they’ll ever be able to.

Both have been given ample opportunity to settle in and show their quality on the pitch and while they’ve done it in spurts, it’s not enough right now.

Kemar Roofe has been consistently good since returning from injury, while Danilo took his opportunity with a goal but suffered a broken face in the process which halted his momentum.
