Proctor entered the transfer portal in January, following Nick Saban’s retirement. Several days after entering the portal, the former five-star announced his plan to move to Iowa. In a surprise twist, Proctor re-entered the portal and returned to Alabama last month. DeBoer likes what he’s seen from Proctor since his return to Tuscaloosa.

“He was a guy who was going to play a significant role in the program,” DeBoer told reporters at the recent Nick’s Kids golfing tournament. “To lose him and to now get him back, that’s a big deal for us. I think he’s just done a great job of meshing back with his friends, but most importantly his teammates. Excited to get him back into our workouts this summer.”

The Iowa product started in 14 games at left tackle for Alabama as a freshman. He was selected to the All-SEC Freshman Team by the conference coaches.

Alabama explosive 4-Star WR commit Lotzeir Brooks squats nearly 500 pounds

Alabama football’s wide receiver commit, Lotzeir Brooks is not just fast.

The Crimson Tide pledge has strength to go along with his explosive playing style. Touchdown Alabama recently caught up with Brooks’ head coach at Millville High School Humberto Ayala, and he raved about Brooks’ toughness and strength.

“He is strong as heck in the weight room. People don’t realize how strong this kid actually is for his size. A shoestring tackle ain’t taking him down. The plan is to get him the ball in open space and let him go.”

Brooks’ put his strength on display Thursday when he maxed out at 445 pounds while squatting. A video of Brooks moving the weight can be streamed below:
