Pure Rock’n’Roll awaited the spectators, many of whom wore blinking devil’s horns (an AC/DC fan item that could also be bought in the last plot). It started on time after the end of the game of the Swiss Nati against Italy before 20:00 with the classics “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” and “Back in Black”.

During the performance of the support band The Pretty Reckless, the sky lit up for the concert of AC/DC. Hundreds of red shirts and “Swiss Nati” choirs showed where the minds of the age-changing fans were in the transformation phase.

The focus during the concert was on Angus Young and Brian Johnson. The hair has become more shiny, but the 69-year-old guitarist Young still wears his brand name on stage, the school uniform with the short pants. Along with the 76-year-old singer Johnson (since 1980) the last founding member of AC/DC moved the crowds away from the beginning.

For Johnson, the performance is a return. At the last AC/DC tour in 2016, which also led to Wankdorf in Bern, the singer had to fit due to severe hearing problems. He was replaced by Guns’n’Roses singer Axl Rose.

The stage picture in Zurich was rather simple for a rock band, it was dominated by the reinforcement towers, which provided a huge sound wall, against which Johnson seemed to fight in the meantime. Large video walls with various animations made the band members appear tiny. Pyros were rarely used.

Surprises no one needs Surprises nobody could and would expect. Rarely scattered newer songs (the band released four more albums since the year 2000) did not mislead that the classics should come to play. Songs such as “Thunderstruck”, “Hells Bells”, “You Shook Me All Night Long” or “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” were well received by the audience.

Young lay down, went back and forth to Soli, completed the duckwalk he had watched at Chuck Berry, and fired people on a slope leading to the audience.

While the rest of the band members stood together in the background at the drums and provided the very solid frame, Johnson also occasionally participated in the audience animation. There was little talk, however, one song chased the next.

Cannons and fireworks for the end

At “Highway To Hell” the hands and phones went up all over the stadium. AC/DC played their most well-known song in time for darkness, so the people in the auditorium stopped sitting on their seats.
