The Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers may be going into the 2024 season with similar expectations.  Detroit is coming off a season in which they fell just three points shy of reaching the Super Bowl.  The Steelers feel that Russell Wilson could take their franchise to that next level.

Now these two teams are drawing trade talks from around the league prior to the start of the season.

The Detroit Lions And Pittsburgh Steelers Suddenly Enthralled In Trade Rumors

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine recently speculated that a third-round pick could be enough to acquire Pittsburgh Steelers standout inside defensive lineman Cameron Heyward from the Lions. Following their appearance in the NFC Championship Game last season, the Detroit Lions should be all in on making the Super Bowl. That entails taking some significant risks when they present themselves.

Pursuing an accomplished veteran like Cam Heyward could be the move that puts them over the top. The Lions came up short against the 49ers in part because they gave up 34 points, 4.7 yards per carry and only sacked Brock Purdy twice.

Adding Heyward to the interior of a defensive line that already has Aidan Hutchinson, Alim McNeill, Marcus Davenport and DJ Reader could be the difference in those big games.

Heyward is 35-years-old entering the 2024 season. He has spent his entire 13-year career with the Steelers, it would be shocking to see Pittsburgh move on from him now.
