The Paris 2024 Olympics would supposedly end with a musical festival including some of Los Angeles’ most well-known artists. According to an exclusive Variety source, the closing ceremony on August 11 will feature performances by three of Los Angeles’ most prominent acts: Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, each representing a distinct aspect of the city’s diverse cultural past.

According to the publication, the artists will be seen from Los Angeles in a mix of pre-taped and live performances, a musical handover for the 2028 L.A. Olympic Games.

Billie Eilish, a Highland Park native, has emerged as one of her generation’s most distinctive musical voices. Her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, not only topped the Billboard 200, but also made her the youngest artist to win all four major Grammy awards in the same year.

Eilish, whose hit “Bad Guy” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, famously pays tribute to her hometown’s renowned sights and culture in her 2021 concert film, Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles. Snoop Dogg, a West Coast rap icon, has already been a striking character at the Paris Games. From his viral commentary for NBC to his role as the U.S. Olympic torchbearer, Snoop has taken his charisma to the world stage and established himself as an unofficial ambassador for the country. Snoop has continuously charted on the Billboard Hot 100 throughout his three-decade career, including his breakthrough single “Who Am I (What’s My Name?)” and collaborations such as “Drop It Like It’s Hot”. Beyond his music.

The band has had a lengthy history of commercial success, with albums such as Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californication topping the Billboard 200. Their smash singles “Under the Bridge” and “Scar Tissue” are also regulars on the Billboard Hot 100. However, the music is not the main lure. Tom Cruise is apparently planning a stunt to equal his most iconic movie scenes, according to TMZ. Cruise would reportedly rappel from the top of the Stade de France while gripping the Olympic flag, followed by a pre-recorded part of him skydiving onto the famed Hollywood sign.
