Alabama’s victory against South Florida, despite the lopsided final score, didn’t inspire confidence in the Crimson Tide fan base.

Alabama won 42-16 but scored 28 points in the fourth quarter. Three touchdowns came in the final six minutes to seal the victory for the Tide.

Alabama and South Florida also faced off last season, with the Tide winning 17-3. Alabama led by just a single score until the final 30 seconds of that contest.

“I think Alabama fans ought to learn what we all learned a year ago,” Finebaum said during a Monday appearance on the “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning.” “Any take, any hot take, any opinion on a game with South Florida is completely worthless, because we got nothing out of that last year. And, while I was hearing from friends Saturday night, people in panic, it turned out that the score says Alabama won. It looked like a comfortable win. We all know it wasn’t, and I, frankly, don’t think it makes a bit of difference.”

win is a win, and Alabama still remains the No. 4 team in the country in the latest AP Poll. Jalen Milroe and Co. face a tougher test this week on the road against a 2-0 Wisconsin team.

“I know that sounds like I’m just wiping it away, but sometimes that happens,” Finebaum said. “The fact that Alabama could win the fourth quarter in such a dominating fashion to me is good.

“There are issues. We read way too much into last week, which we always do sometimes. The most important thing is to move on, go on the road in a game they should win.”
