The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team is hosting multiple high-level recruiting targets on campus this weekend while the football team hosts Alabama. One of those recruits was Wisconsin native wing Amari Allen. That likely won’t be the case anymore. Allen is coming off a recent visit to the Alabama basketball program and announced his commitment to Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide today on his X (Twitter) account.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Allen is considered a 4-star wing and is 98th-overall recruit in the nation. He is the 18th ranked small forward and the No. 4 player from Wisconsin in the 2025 class. The new Alabama-commit held 26 offers from some of the most successful programs in the country. He chose the Crimson Tide over Wisconsin, UCF, Misissippi State, Marquette, Indiana, Tennessee and many more.

Allen, originally from Wisconsin, transferred to IMG Academy in Florida during his high school career only to return back to Wisconsin for his senior season, where he will play at Ashwaubenon.

Greg Gard and the Wisconsin basketball staff was hopiong to add Allen to their 2025 class that already includes sharpshooter Zach Kinziger and big man Will Garlock. The Badgers’ 2025 class is currently the No. 11 class in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. The Badgers are still working hard to add more talent to the class, inlcuding 4-star small forward Ryder Frost and 6-10 big man Tommy Ahneman, who will both be visiting Wisconsin this weekend. Frost currently holds 25 Division 1 offers and is considered the 102nd-overall prospect in the 2025 class.

Ahneman, who’s recruitment has taken off this summer, is the 85th-overall prospect according to the composite rankings. He is the 12th-ranked center in the country. Despite missing Allen, the Badgers are still seemingly in a spot to bring in a strong class. But with the changing landscape of college basketball, more resources are bring put into recruiting players out of the transfer portal. High school recruiting is not the end-all-be-all for a program like it used to be. But bringing in talent out of high school never hurts either. The Badgers are still taking a big swing at Davion Hannah, who recently transferred from Nicolet High School (Wisconsin) to Link Academy in Branson, Missouri. Although the reports are not necessarily optimistic, getting Hannah would wipe out any concern on missing Allen or any other remaining target.

The Wisconsin basketball team ius slated to kick off their season on November 4th against Holy Cross at the Kohl Center.
