Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide suffered their second loss in three weeks after falling to the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday. The defeat fueled the fans’ frustration even more, especially for a program that is so used to dominating the college football ranks under Nick Saban. That said, the Alabama faithful expressed belief that they know exactly why the Crimson Tide are struggling under DeBoer’s guidance: discipline … or the lack thereof.
In Alabama’s loss to Tennessee, DeBoer’s men compiled 15 penalties (10 in the first half alone) for 115 yards. It helped the Vols stage a comeback after failing to score in the first two quarters and trailing by seven at the half.
“Kalen DeBoer is so focused on not being like Nick Saban instead of just continuing the obvious script that’s worked for 2 decades. This has to be the most undisciplined Bama team I’ve ever seen. Out of contention after 7 games is insane,” a critic wrote.
“[Kalen DeBoer ] let’s start disciplining our team no? We look like early 2000’s Miami with the penalties, not to mention the rat poison that has entered the locker room. What happened to the Alabama football mentality?” another commenter shared. A third commenter echoed the same sentiment, noting, “Most undisciplined I’ve seen since DuBose. Mouthing off after every single damn play, players tweeting 3 hours before game, players signing autographs before the game, and the list goes on. [Kalen DeBoer] better tear it all down and start winning or tickets holders are done.”
