Alan Shearer has described Aston Villa midfielder Moussa Diaby as a ‘game changer’ after Newcastle United expressed interest in him.

Moussa Diaby has been a game-changing signing for Aston Villa having joined from Bayer Leverkusen this summer

Villa were in blistering form on Saturday afternoon, destroying Brighton and Hove Albion 6-1 at Villa Park.

Ollie Watkins grabbed the headlines with a superb hat-trick but fellow attacker Diaby deserves some praise too.

Moussa Diaby of Aston Villa is praised by Alan Shearer.

Diaby joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen over the summer as he made a £51million move to Birmingham.

Villa of course aren’t paying all of that in one go and plenty of the deal is made up in add-ons, but it currently looks like a snip.

The 24-year-old is making a huge impact for Villa and he helped destroy Brighton.

Diaby set up Watkins’ first goal before his shot was turned in for a Pervis Estupinan own goal.

Diaby has now been hailed by Alan Shearer, who loved his performance against the Seagulls.

Shearer suggested that Diaby has been a ‘game changer’ for Villa with his pace causing no end of problems for defenders

“I do think that Diaby has been a game changer for them because of his pace up front, because of how they can sit back and soak up a bit of pressure but then, once they win that ball back, because of his pace and his ability to get in behind, then I think he’s been a game changer for them and he’s certainly helping Ollie Watkins be a better player,” said Shearer.
