After the loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game, the Texas Longhorns will look to bounce back in the upcoming College Football Playoff with a battle against the Clemson Tigers at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on Dec. 21, in hopes of making a championship run. Yet, rumors had begun to swirl about the possibility of starting quarterback Quinn Ewers returning for another season of college ball, whether it be with Texas or another team. This caused a stir on social media on Thursday, with many fans theorizing where Ewers or even Arch Manning could end up next year.
However, a recent report from Rivals’ Anwar Richardson indicated that Ewers is still expected to enter the 2025 NFL draft as the Longhorns plan to implement Manning into the starting lineup beginning next season. This shut down any previous concerns about Texas’ redshirt freshman QB leaving.
“Sources say Quinn Ewers still plans to declare for the NFL Draft after this season, paving the way for Arch Manning to take over in 2025,” Richardson wrote on X. “Manning is locked in with Texas and coach Steve Sarkisian, with no plans to transfer. Right now, both are dialed in on Clemson.”
However, the recent news hasn’t stopped college football fans from claiming Manning should still transfer to a different program, with the North Carolina Tar Heels being one of the most named options.
