After eighteen years together, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers called it quits this past off-season. It just so happened that the executive office of the Packers shared the sentiment of the eventual Hall of Fame quarterback that it was time to move on. Nearly six weeks after he announced his intention to play for the Jets, and just before the 2023 NFL Draft, Aaron Rodgers was traded to New York for several first-round draft selections.

However, as the 2023 season reaches the half way mark, an Aaron Rodgers return to Green Bay is actually on track.

Aaron Rodgers Returning To Green Bay In 2024 Is On Track Half Way Through This Season

Halfway through the NFL season, a reminder that the AFC East team that finishes in the same spot in its division as the Packers do in the NFC North comes to Green Bay next season.

If the season ended today, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets would play at Lambeau Field in 2024.

With Rodgers out, the Jets probably won’t keep pace with the Dolphins and Bills, but they should be able to keep pace with the two-win Patriots.

The Packers (likely) aren’t catching the Detroit Lions and may find it hard to keep up with Minnesota Vikings in NFC North. Although that may flucuate througout the season with Kirk Cousins now missing the rest of the year. Finishing ahead of the Chicago Bears? That’s almost a guarantee.

Rodgers’ return to Lambeau Field would be substantially different from Brett Favre’s homecoming in 2009. When Favre returned to Green Bay with the opposing Minnesota Vikings, he intended to make a point. While both sides thought it was time to move on (and many fans agreed), Rodgers left Green Bay emphasizing his feelings for the team, supporters, and community. They parted on relatively good terms.

If Rodgers does return to Green Bay in 2024, he will almost certainly be welcomed with open arms.
