It’s a significant test for the Georgia Bulldogs today. They may have their greatest player back on the field for what may be their biggest game of the season thus far.

narrow end Two games have been missed by Brock Bowers because to tightrope surgery on his ankle. It seemed at one point like it may be the end of the season, but it looks like he might play today against No. 9 Ole Miss.

Bowers suffered a high ankle sprain on October 16, against Vanderbilt. To that point in the season, he had racked up 567 yards and four touchdowns on 41 catches. Even after missing the past two games he still leads the team in both catches and yards.

Despite not having its top receiver for the past two games, the Georgia offense has scored 43 and 30 points against Florida and Missouri. Sophomore tight end Oscar Delp has stepped up and was especially effective against Mizzou, with four catches for 33 yards and a touchdown.

Bowers returned to practice this week and optimism for his return has built since. The unbeaten Bulldogs could use the boost as they try to clinch a spot in the SEC Championship game with a win today.

Ole Miss is the highest-ranked opponent that Kirby Smart’s team has faced this year and the Rebels only loss came to Alabama back in Week 4. Last week, Lane Kiffin’s team escaped a high-scoring game against Texas A&M with a 38-35 win. Ole Miss is 14th in the country in scoring offense, so Georgia will not only need to get stops, but keep pace and who better than Bowers to help Carson Beck do that?

Brock Bowers’s injury status:

On Saturday, Bowers will probably be evaluated at game time. As Kirby Smart informed reporters this week, “how the ankle is responding” is the determining factor.
