Florida State Intensifies Pursuit of Elite Alabama-Commited OT

Florida State University (FSU) is actively pursuing five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood, who is currently committed to the University of Alabama. Haywood, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound standout from Texas, is ranked as the nation’s No. 5 offensive tackle and the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.

Initially, Haywood chose Alabama over other top programs, including Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and TCU. Despite his commitment, FSU’s coaching staff remains determined to sway him towards Tallahassee. According to reports, the Seminoles are working to get involved with Haywood, who plans to visit Michigan and Texas A&M in January, with a potential trip to Florida State also on the horizon.

FSU’s interest in Haywood comes amid a broader effort to bolster their offensive line. The Seminoles have recently secured commitments from several offensive linemen through the transfer portal, including Ole Miss transfer Micah Pettus, Vanderbilt’s Gunnar Hansen, and UCF’s Adrian Medley. Pettus, a 6-foot-7, 350-pound tackle, brings significant experience from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), having started 29 of 33 games at right tackle for Ole Miss.

In addition to transfer acquisitions, FSU has made strides in high school recruiting. The Seminoles landed four-star offensive lineman Mario Nash Jr. and three-star Sean Poret during the Early Signing Period. However, the potential addition of a talent like Haywood would significantly enhance their 2025 recruiting class, providing a cornerstone for the offensive line in the coming years.

The pursuit of Haywood reflects FSU’s commitment to strengthening its roster following a challenging 2024 season, where the team finished with a 2-10 record. The coaching staff’s efforts to attract top-tier talent, both through high school recruiting and the transfer portal, aim to address key areas of need and set the program on a path to resurgence.

As the recruitment process unfolds, FSU fans and analysts will closely monitor Haywood’s upcoming visits and any shifts in his commitment status. Securing a player of his caliber would not only bolster the Seminoles’ offensive line but also signal the program’s ability to compete with national powerhouses like Alabama in attracting elite talent.

In the competitive landscape of college football recruiting, FSU’s relentless pursuit of Haywood underscores the program’s determination to rebuild and compete at the highest levels. The coming weeks will be pivotal as the Seminoles strive to make a compelling case for Haywood to reconsider his commitment and envision a future in Tallahassee.
