The Green Bay Packers may be without wide receiver Christian Watson when they play the New York Giants on Monday Night Football at MetLife Stadium.

Watson did not participate in the Packers’ Thursday practice due to a hamstring injury sustained in their Week 13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The extent of the damage is still unknown, while some reports suggest it may not be significant.

Regardless, however, there’s a chance that Watson misses a game or two. The 24-year-old wide receiver himself isn’t confident that he’ll be able to suit up come Week 14 when they play the Giants.

Watson indicated to reporters on Thursday that it’s unlikely he will be able to play in the Monday Night Football showdown since his injury will likely need more time to recover, per Ryan Wood of USA Today.

Christian Watson Doing His Best To Avoid Injuries

Despite the rather concerning news, though, Christian Watson did share that he’s doing everything he can to make sure he doesn’t get injured often.

Watson noted that he has already spent “tens of thousands of dollars” consulting medical experts in order to better learn what he needs to do. As for the case of his hamstring, he is looking to strengthen his back so that the “hamstring doesn’t overcompensate,” via Wood.

“There’s a lot of crazy stuff. A lot of crazy machines out there. Stuff, like magnets, all that type of stuff. There’s a lot of gurus out there, I try to stay away from that type of stuff and try to work with scientifically proven stuff,” Watson further explained on his efforts to prevent recurring injuries

“I think the main focus is working on the back, the hips and making sure I can get stronger in other places just so those type of things don’t put more stress in that area. That’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve just been trying to find, instead of just focusing on the hamstring, go out and talk to people who are experts in back, experts in knees and stuff like that.”

Hopefully, Watson will be able to work on his body as he shared in order to avoid serious and repetitive injuries. Along with Jordan Love, he’s one of the most promising young members of the Packers organization.

So far in the 2023 season, Watson has already tallied 28 receptions for 422 yards and five touchdowns. It remains to be seen if he really needs to be sidelined and for how long, though the Packers can only stay patient since hamstring injuries can be tricky to come back from.
