“Can people quit calling me and telling me @DerrickDnix is at @AuburnFootball 😂,” Kiffin said.

According to reports from AL.com, Ole Miss Rebels associate head coach and wide receivers coach Derrick Nix is rumored to be a leading candidate for the offensive coordinator position under Hugh Freeze with the Auburn Tigers. This report comes after the departure of Cadillac Williams from the Tigers coaching staff and amidst reports that Freeze will assume play-calling duties in 2024.

A native of Atalla, Alabama, Nix spent his playing days with the Southern Miss Golden Eagles where he also began his coaching career as a graduate assistant in 2003. He had a stop with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons in 2007 before joining the Ole Miss staff in 2008 as the running backs coach, a position he held through 2019.

Once Lane Kiffin gained the head coaching job in Oxford, Nix shifted to the role of wide receivers coach, a post he has held ever since. He was named assistant head coach in 2022.
