The Green Bay Packers have wasted no time in their search for a new defensive coordinator. Joe Barry, the Packers’ defensive coordinator since 2021, was let go earlier this week. The decision came following another poor season for the defense, which includes eight former first-round picks and other high-level talent.
Brandon Staley, the former Los Angeles Chargers head coach, was reportedly the first person interviewed to fill Barry’s vacant position. Barry worked under Staley in 2020, when he was the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator. Hiring Staley would ensure that Green Bay’s defensive scheme remained largely consistent.
Earlier on Friday, it was disclosed that the Packers had asked for permission to interview Buffalo Bills linebacker coach Bobby Babich. The New York Giants had previously interviewed Babich to fill the position of defensive coordinator. Babich has been with the Bills since 2017 and has helped the linebacker unit become one of the finest in the NFL.
In addition to Staley and Babich, Green Bay has reportedly requested permission to meet one of the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinators. Many fans had hoped for Al Harris, the Cowboys’ defensive backs coach who was previously a Packers CB.

If a football fan hasn’t heard of Aden Durde yet, they will soon. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the Packers are not the only team that has wanted to interview him for a vacant defensive coordinator post.
As stated in the post above, the Rams and Falcons have also sought an interview with Durde. His close relationship with Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, as well as the success of Dallas’ defensive lines under his instruction, have made him a sought-after commodity.
Who Is Aden Durde?
Aden Durde has had quite the trek to become an NFL coach. Unlike most professional trainers, he was born and raised in Europe, specifically Middlesex, England. Durde competed professionally in the United Kingdom, representing the London Olympians and the Scottish Claymores. He also played for the Hamburg Sea Devils of Germany.
Durde attended training camps with the Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs in addition to his professional football career in Europe.
Durde was also the defensive coordinator for the London Olympians, which helped him gain a position as a defensive quality control coach under Dan Quinn while he was the Falcons’ head coach. Throughout his five seasons with Atlanta, Durde occupied responsibilities
