DONE DEAL: Packers have signed three players to extended contracts.

The Green Bay Packers have signed three players to reserve/futures contracts for the 2024 season: inside linebacker Christian Young, outside linebacker Deandre Johnson, and outside linebacker Deslin Alexandre, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. These are short-term contracts, usually intended for current or former practice squad players, that aren’t applied to the salary cap or roster count until the start of the following league year.

Inside linebacker Christian Young, outside linebacker Deandre Johnson, and outside linebacker Deslin Alexandre have all inked reserve/futures contracts with the Green Bay Packers for the 2024 campaign. Rob Demovsky of ESPN reported this information. Reserve/futures contracts are short-term agreements that are often saved for players who are or have been on the practice squad. They are not counted towards the roster count or salary cap until the beginning of the subsequent league season.

Young is a hybrid inside linebacker/safety who was traded by the Seattle Seahawks to the Green Bay Packers. The hybrid defender has experience in defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s scheme because he spent some time this season on the Packers practice squad. Now, the question that remains very much unanswered is whether Barry will return the following year.
