Alabama football received a commitment on Wednesday from linebacker Darrell “Duke” Johnson. According to the 247Sports aggregate rankings, Johnson, who plays for Dodge County in Georgia, is a four-star talent.

According to the 247 composite, Johnson is the No. 3 linebacker in the 2025 class, ranking him 28th overall. He began his high school career as a defensive back before moving to linebacker.

“Plays the ball extremely well in the air, making use of his 80-inch wingspan and superb athleticism to attack the ball at the highest point,” 247Sports national analyst Hudson Standish wrote in his assessment of Johnson. “Made significant progress as a junior with his feet and recognition on the defensive side of the ball, resulting in a career-high 103 tackles. Demonstrates urgency by going downhill and sideline-to-sideline to challenge ball carriers. A real thumper who has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to dislodge the football with a powerful collision at full speed.”

Johnson stands 6 feet-3 and weighs 200 pounds. He rejected offers from Florida State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, and Central Florida in favor of Alabama.

He became the University of Arizona’s sixth commitment in the 2025 class. The group is presently ranked tenth nationwide, according to the 247 composite.
