Striker Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord is being closely watched by Arsenal.

Ivan Toney of Brentford has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners as they aim to add a new striker in the January transfer window.

Toney is still the Gunners’ top target, but his £80 million price tag may push them to look elsewhere.

The Times reported that Arsenal have also looked at Gimenez. Since the beginning of last season, the 22-year-old has scored 33 goals for Feyenoord in all competitions, making him a player to keep an eye on.

His current market value was not disclosed in the article, but it is obvious that he won’t be available for cheap.

The Times claims that for the Gunners to sign either Gimenez or Toney, they must shed a few players in order to adhere to the Financial Fair Play regulations.

The Dutch goliaths were rumored to be asking for roughly £43.5 million for the Mexican international during the summer, according to reports.

He signed from Cruz Azul last year and has already made a significant impact, so the Gunners might have to fork over even more money in January.

In the Premier League, only Manchester City had scored more goals than Arsenal’s 88 during the previous campaign. However, it seems that the front division needs to be strengthened.
