If you were expecting the St. Brown brothers would team up on the Detroit Lions in 2024, I’m sorry to disappoint you. According to NFL Network, Equanimeous St. Brown, a free agent this year, has agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints.

During an episode of the pair’s podcast in January, Lions All-Pro receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown intimated that the Lions would be interested in Equanimeous. Amon-Ra recalled a phone chat with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson during which Equanimeous was mentioned.

“(Johnson) said, ‘Shoot, maybe he’ll be here next year,'” Amon-Ra St. Brown explained. “I said, ‘He’d love that.'”

Unfortunately, that’s not how things turned out, and Equanimeous will join another NFC team. And in case you were wondering, the Lions and Saints will not play each other during the 2024 regular season… but maybe a big playoff game is on the horizon?

Equanimeous has been in the NFL since 2018, spending four seasons with the Packers before joining the Bears for the last two. Injuries hampered his 2023 season, limiting him to only seven games. He only made a minor effect in those games, catching five passes for 62 yards for the season.

The Lions may still be looking for a receiver, however. They were interested in re-signing Josh Reynolds before he joined the Denver Broncos, and Detroit is yet to find a replacement. However, with Amon-Ra, Jameson Williams, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and Kalif Raymond already under contract, this is not the team’s most pressing need.
