The main topic of Alabama’s spring football practice took center stage on Saturday, as quarterbacks Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson continued their quest for the starting job, with coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees in assessment mode. And each made their fair share of plays on A-Day, albeit occasionally faltering.
Milroe and Simpson are both former highly rated prospects, with Milroe a 4-star in the 2021 class and Simpson a 5-star in 2022. So, while Milroe has more experience, Simpson has a little superior pedigree.
Milroe, as usual, showed off his wheels with a long run to start the game. Simpson showcased his arm talent and made some plays on the ground himself too. All told, it’s hard to say whether one player took firm control of the competition considering both players made some errors.
