Don’t let anyone deceive you: size matters.
At least for the Carolina Panthers.
Harrison Mevis, widely known as the “Thiccer Kicker,” has agreed to a multi-year contract with the Panthers ahead of the offseason’s minicamp, according to The Athletic.
Mevis, out of Missouri, landed the deal because of his talent. He is the school’s all-time scoring leader and he nailed 78 percent of his field goal attempts.
The biggest moment of his career came during the 2023 season when he landed a 61-yard field goal to beat Kansas State. It was a Southeastern Conference record.
Carolina doesn’t necessarily need a kicker, however. The Panthers already have Eddy Pineiro, who has been steady through the previous two seasons.
Maybe Carolina merely wanted a kicking battle throughout the offseason. Either way, the Panthers definitely landed one of the thickest kickers in the undrafted free-agent pool.
