The Milwaukee Brewers had to rely on Rickie Weeks as their acting manager for Wednesday’s series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays. Weeks, Pat Murphy’s Associate Manager, found out about this 20 minutes before the opening pitch, as Murphy had been suspended for two games for a brawl against the Tampa Bay Rays the night before.
Rickie Weeks will be the acting manager for the Milwaukee Brewers next two games.
For two games, Weeks will serve as the Brewers’ interim manager. He has already played one game, leading Milwaukee to a 7-1 triumph and series win over the Rays on Wednesday afternoon. Milwaukee’s next game will be on Friday, when Weeks will lead the squad against former Brewer Craig Counsell at Wrigley Field.

The color scheme was the cited reason for this, but he did wear it in front of the same umpiring crew the night before. Weeks said that after everything that happened the game sped up on Tuesday and the umpires were not able to address Viera’s glove at that time, so attention was brought to it a day later.
