Alabama basketball looking like ‘serious threat on national scale’

Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats was asked what a Final Four appearance would mean for recruitment ahead of the national semifinal against UConn in Phoenix (AZ).

“There’s not a lot missing in the pitch now,” he remarked.

He also praised assistant coach Preston Murphy, whom he described as a “big time recruiter.”

“He’s certainly using this Final Four run to our advantage, for sure,” Oats continued. “We’ll see what type of dividends we can gain from it moving forward this spring and summer.”

Alabama supporters have already noticed these advantages. The Crimson Tide signed Pepperdine transfer guard Houston Mallette prior to the NCAA Tournament. What happened since then? Oats and Murphy have been on a run, getting three additional transfer portal commitments, each seemingly bigger than the last. Chris Youngblood, a Tuscaloosa native, made his commitment to Alabama on his visit. Aden Holloway, an Auburn transfer, did the same. The most significant (literally and metaphorically) addition came over the weekend, when Rutgers center Clifford Omoruyi announced his decision to join the Crimson Tide.Alabama
