Does Ole Miss require any additional running backs? Lane Kiffin appears to believe so, as he signed a second running back in two days. Kiffin was able to flip Colorado running back Rashad Amos, building on Domonique Thomas’ commitment from yesterday.

Amos, a former Miami (OH) player, went through the winter transfer portal in December 2023. On April 13, he committed to Ole Miss’s opponent, Mississippi State, before switching to Colorado on April 26. Lane Kiffin believes this is his final stop, as Rashad Amos has two years of eligibility left.

In 2023, Amos carried for 1,075 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry in his debut season with the RedHawks, who were previously affiliated with South Carolina. During his two seasons with the Gamecocks, he had only 20 carries for 106 rushing yards.

Yesterday, On3s Pete Nakos predicted that Rashad Amos would flip his commitment to Ole Miss. However, hours later, with the commitment of former Clemson running back Domonique Thomas, it became unclear if Amos would still commit to Ole Miss. Those questions were answered earlier today.

Running back Rashad Amos releases social media post on decision

Rashad Amos issued a statement on social media just before it was announced that he was switching his commitment from Colorado to Ole Miss.

Lane Kiffin now has six productive running backs in the room. Is there something else happening with the latest commitments at running back? We know LSU transfer Logan Diggs is set to miss some of the upcoming season as he recovers from knee surgery. However, is there another problem that Lane Kiffin has had to deal with?

There were reports that New Mexico transfer Jacory Croskey-Merritt may have his eligibility denied by the NCAA this season. However, no legitimate sources confirmed this. All we can do is wait to see if any news comes from the team. If not, Ole Miss has a top-tier running back room in talent and depth for the 2024 season.
