Jade Carey, a future Oregon State gymnast, finished sixth in the all-around in the United States Gymnastics Championships on Sunday. Carey started Sunday’s Day 2 competition in seventh place on vault and bars, after scoring 14.700 and 13.950 on Friday. Sunday evening, Carey added a 14.550 to the vault and a 13.600 to the bars. She finished the two-day competition with a score of 26.300 on beam and 26.900 on floor. Overall, she placed sixth on vault, ninth on bars and floor, and eleventh on beam.

Carey, who signed a National Letter of Intent with the Beavers in the fall of 2017, continues her pursuit of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, postponed until 2021, and is expected to join the OSU gymnastics program in time for the 2022 season.

part of the Team USA Champions Series, the U.S. Championships determines the women’s U.S. champions and the U.S. National Team. The U.S. Championships is also part of the selection process for the U.S. Team for the Tokyo Olympics in July.

 

With her sixth-place finish, Carey has qualified to the U.S. National Team for the fourth straight year.
