Dabo Swinney of Clemson and Maurice Drayton of The Citadel are among the football coaches scheduled to attend the 15th annual South Carolina Coaches for Charity event, which will take place in Charleston for the second year in a row.

The event, organized by Hall of Fame coach Fisher DeBerry, is scheduled for July 23 at the Embassy Suites Charleston Airport Hotel and Convention Center.

Tickets are available at southcarolinacoaches.com.

Other coaches on the bill include Gabe Giardina (Charleston Southern), Shawn Watson (Wofford), and South Carolina State’s new coach, Chennis Barry.

Proceeds support the Fisher DeBerry Foundation as well as the foundations selected by each head coach, such as Swinney’s All In Team Foundation.

DeBerry, a native of Cheraw who played college football at Wofford and coached Air Force from 1984 through 2006, founded a charity that supports single-parent kids by paying their way to Fellowship of Christian Athletes summer camps in Colorado.

DeBerry was raised by a single mother and said that sports, and especially football, played a significant role in his life.

“Lord knows all the problems facing kids in the country today,” DeBerry said before last year’s event. “We just feel if we can get kids into sports camps, like the Fellowship of Christian Athletes football camp, for example, the kids will learn things about competing and making commitments and hopefully go back to their schools and change some attitudes.”
