On deadline day, the Bournemouth winger joined Leeds United on loan, while Luis Sinisterra went the other way.

Jaidon Anthony has opened up about his deadline-day move to Leeds United, saying he felt he’d thrive at Elland Road after witnessing the atmosphere in Bournemouth’s 4-3 defeat last season. The Cherries winger was an unused replacement in the encounter, which Jesse Marsch’s team won in a thriller at home.

The 23-year-old moved to Leeds as part of Bournemouth’s loan approach for Luis Sinisterra, with Anthony joining the club on a season-long loan. It was a last-minute agreement, with the teenage forward preparing for Bournemouth’s Premier League match against Brentford.

“It was a Friday, we’d traveled to Brentford, and I’d trained in the morning,” he recalled on the Official Leeds United podcast. I hadn’t heard anything about a move during the day, so I was just preparing for the game as usual.

“I got a call from my agent probably five minutes before we got to the hotel, and obviously the move had happened.” I had to think about it, then it was a flurry of phone calls throughout the day, and it didn’t get done properly until the last minute.

“I was really excited because I had come here last year and experienced the crowd, and I knew I would thrive playing in that environment.” I’ve always liked stadiums with a lot of excitement, and it’s an exciting moment to be here.

“With the squad we have, everyone knows we’ll be pushing for promotion, but a lot of teams in this league will probably be saying the same thing, they want to go for promotion whether it’s through the play-offs or automatics.” I’ve come here with the intention of assisting as many people as possible.”

“I’ve never really done in terms of number [targets],” Anthony replied when questioned about setting a goal tally for himself. “I feel like I want to create chances, that I’m the type of player who creates opportunities and scores goals.”

“I want to score as many as possible, but I don’t want to set a limit or set one too high.” “I just want to help the team as much as I can in terms of creating and scoring, but also working hard for the team.”
