The Cleveland Cavaliers have declined to extend a qualifying offer to power forward Isaiah Mobley, making him an unrestricted free agent, according to reports and Hoops Wire sources.

Mobley, 24, stands 6-foot-8 and was selected by the Cavs with the 49th overall choice in the 2022 NBA Draft out of USC. He has appeared in 22 NBA games in his two seasons, averaging 2.5 points and 1.4 rebounds.

Isaiah Mobley, the older brother of Cavaliers starter Evan Mobley, has signed a two-way contract for the past two summers. He did not participate this summer and will not be on the Cavs’ summer league roster.

Basically, it seems there’s a good chance the Cavs are moving on, though Mobley very well could still be a member of the Canton Charge and work his way back to an NBA roster that way. For now, though, he can test the market.

“I know my time is coming,” Mobley stated at the close of last season, according to Jackson Flickinger of SB Nation. “I simply want to keep improving and be ready for opportunities when they arise. But, yes, I want it to happen today or tomorrow. But you know, that’s beyond my control. “I don’t let it bother me.”

With or without Isaiah Mobley, the Cavs could definitely need some help up front. They’re anticipated to part ways with Tristan Thompson and Damian Jones, leaving Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley as their only bigs.
