Anthony Elanga is happy to have transferred from Manchester United to Nottingham Forest during the most recent transfer window.

In eight league games this season, including two starts, the winger has recorded a goal and an assist. In the Tricky Trees’ 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last month, he scored the game-winning goal.

The 21-year-old said he is a good fit for Nottingham Forest’s project in an interview with Fotbollskanalen.

On his move, he said: “It has been perfect. I talked to the leaders before I came here. I know what the leaders want and how to play. The project and everything there is perfect for me.”

Steve Cooper’s side have collected nine points from eight games and are currently 13th in the table. Even though Nottingham Forest have struggled to score regularly, the Sweden international is pleased with his start to the season.

“The season is long and we have only played eight games. We’ve won a few and I’ve scored goals and assists. So, I can’t complain about the start of the season. Now it’s just a matter of continuing to work hard,” Elanga explained.

The attacker spent nine years at Manchester United before moving to the City Ground. He was a product of the Red Devils’ youth system before finding his way into their first team in 2021.

When Fotbollskanalen asked about the difference between a ‘top team’ like the Red Devils and Nottingham Forest, the Swede said: “Nottingham are still a great team historically. They have won two Champions Leagues. So, you could say I’ve gone from one big team to another big team.

“The disparity isn’t that great. We have a strong start in the league with wins, draws, and losses. But the team, the city, and the players are all good. The season is lengthy, therefore let’s hope we can have a successful one.

During the current international break, Sweden will play Belgium and Moldova, and Elanga hopes to start both games.
