Arsenal are bracing for a busy January transfer window, with manager Mikel Arteta keen to bolster his squad for the second half of the season. The Gunners have enjoyed an impressive start to the 2023-24 Premier League campaign, sitting near the top of the table and competing on multiple fronts, including the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League. However, Arteta is aware that to maintain their challenge on all fronts, reinforcements will be necessary, particularly in key areas where depth is lacking.
One area that has been the subject of much speculation is Arsenal’s midfield. Players who have struggled for regular game time, such as Kieran Tierney, Emile Smith Rowe, and Nuno Tavares, could potentially move on loan or even on permanent deals in search of more regular first-team action. Tierney, in particular, has been linked with a move away, with clubs in Spain and Italy reportedly interested in his services. Meanwhile, Tavares, who has had stints away on loan previously, may also find a new destination, as Arteta looks to streamline his squad and ensure that players are getting the necessary minutes to develop.
With Arsenal fighting on multiple fronts, the club’s ability to strengthen where needed and trim the squad will be crucial to their aspirations of maintaining a competitive challenge in the second half of the season.
