Jack Campbell, a rookie linebacker for the Detroit Lions, is a little lighter on the wallet this week.

Detroit’s 2023 first-round pick was called for roughing the passer in the fourth quarter of Monday Night Football, resulting in a 15-yard penalty for a low hit on Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

It was announced Campbell was fined $14,871 by the NFL for the infraction.

“They got after us up front a little bit,” Garoppolo told reporters, following the Raiders 26-14 loss at Ford Field. “I didn’t get the ball out on time, so, just the little things like that. I thought they had a good plan, I mean that’s a good defense, good team over there, so when you come into their place and don’t play to par, it’s tough to win.”

Dan Campbell credited Detroit’s defense for their tenacity, as the unit was able to record six sacks in the second half to aid the team secure their sixth victory of the season.

“Outstanding, top to bottom, those guys really came through,” Campbell said. “That was one of the things we talked about transitioning from play pass into the rush and then working the games on third down, and those guys they all go hand in hand.

“Alex (Anzalone), Jack (Campbell), all of them inside with (John) Cominsky and (Aidan Hutchinson) Hutch, (Julian Okwara) J.O., (Derrick) Barnes, because they all run the pick games, the twist games,” Campbell explained further. “But we were six sacks and nine quarterback hits. I mean that was all 100 percent teamwork there. We look like a tenacious defense, like that’s how we expect to play defense. We’re ferocious, we play tight coverage, we challenge. I thought Jerry (Jacobs) and Cam (Sutton) did a hell of a job. So it was an outstanding effort by our defense.”
