After Jimbo Fisher, the former coach of the Texas A&M Aggies, was fired on Sunday, speculations regarding his potential replacement have been circulating.

Since the firing of former Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher on Sunday, rumors regarding his replacement have circulated. Analysts and fans alike have weighed in on who should lead the country beginning in 2023.

Herm Edwards, a former college and NFL head coach, presented an unusual answer for the A&M head coaching position during an interview on ESPN’s “Monday Blitz” a day after the termination. Current Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, in Edwards’ opinion, would be an excellent fit for the Aggies.

“Well he’s been in that conference, he understands how to deal with the people there right? He’s good, he’s brash, he’s confident, he brings in an offense that can score points,” Edwards said. “It’s just a matter of now the ability to recruit players and guess what, now you can recruit them because you have this new system of recruiting, it’s called you can actually pay the players.”

It’s not the first time Kiffin has been linked to a rival SEC school’s coaching vacancy in his short time at Ole Miss. Last year, he was linked to the Auburn job. On Monday, Kiffin was asked about his name being linked to the Aggies.

“I’m not going there again,” he told reporters.

Kiffin’s Rebels are 8-2 this season, with games remaining against Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State, which dismissed coach Zach Arnett on Monday. Ole Miss would reach the 10-win milestone for the second time in Kiffin’s four-year tenure if it prevails. He has a 31-15 career record with the Rebels.
