Despite having a wealth of skill, the Buffalo Bills offense has underperformed this season, which is partly to blame for the team’s three-game losing streak.

The offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey was fired less than 24 hours after Buffalo’s heartbreaking 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos on “Monday Night Football”; quarterback Josh Allen, the team’s star, said that the loss is difficult for him.

“Without a doubt (Dorsey would still have his job if we played better), and I take that very personally,” Allen told reporters on Wednesday. “It hurts a lot to see someone you care about go through a situation like that and to know that if I could have done more, if this offense could have done more, we wouldn’t have had to do something like that.”

Under Dorsey’s guidance, Allen looked off his game for much of this season. Yes, he leads the NFL in touchdown passes (19) and has the fourth-most passing yards (2,600), but he also leads the league in turnovers (14) and interceptions (11).

The Bills have also had issues scoring points when it matters. In their wins, they average 32.2 points, but that number falls to 20.2 points in their losses. They’ve scored just four touchdowns in the first quarter this year, and 60% of the time, they don’t score their first touchdown until approximately five minutes into the second quarter.

“Dorsey’s firing was the result of an unfortunate sequence of events,” Allen continued. “But once more, we have a game to prepare for, as much as you can sit here and mope about what’s happening and feel sorry for yourself. Since it’s only four days away, we shouldn’t ignore it.
