This season, the Green Bay Packers have had more than their fair share of serious injuries. David Bakhtiari’s season was cut short after just one game due to a knee injury. Aaron Jones has been hampered by injuries all season, appearing in only seven of the team’s eleven games. Luke Musgrave, a rookie tight end, is on injured reserve with a lacerated kidney and could miss the rest of the season.

These injuries, of course, are just a small snapshot of the woes that have plagued Green Bay all season, and they do not make mention of the numerous hamstring issues that have affected multiple players.

One particular injury that fans are keeping a close eye on is Jayden Reed’s chest injury. A second round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Reed leads the Packers in receiving yards and is on pace to break Sterling Sharpe’s franchise record for receptions by a rookie.

Reed has not been a participant in practice at all this week as Green Bay prepares to take on the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Hopes to Play Against the Kansas City Chiefs

Reed’s injury was suffered during the Packers’ thrilling victory over the Los Angeles Chargers at Lambeau Field. He did not practice last week either, but was able to play against Detroit on Thanksgiving. Not only did he play on last Thursday, he caught a touchdown.

According to Paul Bretl of PackersWire, Reed said of his injury:

“I wouldn’t say setback. Like I said, just taking it day by day. Trying to get right and go out there on Sunday.

”That’s usually how I go about things. I missed one game my whole career. I’ve played with a lot of injuries. Just take it day by day. It’s just what comes with it, I understand that. Just taking care of my body and trying to get it best I can.”

This is certainly good news for the Packers, who will need all the help they can get against the Chiefs. Without Jones, who is suffering from a sprained MCL, and third-string running back Emanuel Wilson, who is on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, Reed has been used as more of a gadget player on wide receiver sweeps.

The Green Bay Packers Should Field a Healthy Wide Receiver Group on Sunday Night

The Packers will certainly need all the offensive help they can get against the Chiefs, and it sounds like they are probably going to field a fully healthy wide receiver group, something that they were unable to do against the Lions on Thanksgiving.

In addition to the numerous injuries already mentioned, rookie wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to play on Sunday. This means that Green Bay will go into the game with Reed, Wicks, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs all healthy. All four of them have over 300 yards receiving this season.
