Breaking; Georgia WR Ladd McConkey sets multiple franchise records Including Chargers rookie receiving and receptions records.

There are many former Georgia football players who are having impressive seasons in the NFL, but that is what UGA fans have grown to become used to over the years. But it is especially shocking whenever a player finds a lot of success at the next level in their rookie season.

But that is exactly what is happening with Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey, who just set multiple franchise records during the Chargers 40-7 win over the New England Patriots on Saturday.

Two Franchise Records

McConkey has been on fire with the Chargers all season, but his performance on Saturday may have been his best game of the season. During the Chargers win, McConkey recorded eight receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns. While that performance is enough cause for celebration on its own, it’s the two records that he set in doing so that are even more impressive.

This game brought his total receptions up to 77 for the season along with 1,054 receiving yards, which are franchise records for a rookie for the Los Angeles Chargers.

This feat likely doesn’t surprise anyone from Georgia because we’ve all known for a long time how special of a player he is. However, the rest of the football world did not see this coming as McConkey was one of the most underrated rookies heading into this season. That however will no longer be the case as everyone now knows how special of a talent McConkey is.

McConkey’s season is far from over as the Chargers’ win clinched an appearance in the playoffs. The Chargers will earn one of the three Wild Card spots in the AFC as the Kansas City Chiefs are the champions in their division, but McConkey helped turn a 5-win team from a season ago to a playoff team which is extremely impressive.
