The Green Bay Packers’ future appears to be better than it did a month ago. Not only is the young roster gelling and playing well, but they’re also defeating playoff clubs. Jordan Love has looked every bit the franchise quarterback they expect him to be.

Going ahead (regardless of how the 2023 season concludes), the Packers will undoubtedly seek to assemble a formidable team around Love for the foreseeable future. A former first-round draft pick could be among them.

The Green Bay Packers Could Sign Former First Round Draft Pick Isaiah Wynn

Pro Football Focus annotated how this addition could help the Packers’ offense:

Wynn started the first seven games for the Dolphins in 2023 at guard before going down with an injury but could still kick back out to tackle if needed. His ability to play on the inside is just a bonus. He has earned a 67.5 pass-blocking grade this season over 224 snaps.

Wynn has dealt with injuries throughout his career but posted pass-blocking grades above 70.0 in each season from 2019 to 2021. Green Bay doesn’t spend a ton in free agency and may not view Wynn as a fit at tackle, given his measurements, but he could be an attractive buy-low option for them as they continue to navigate the overhauling of this unit.

Would The Packers Bring In A Veteran Left Tackle?

David Bakhtiari’s ruptured ACL on New Year’s Eve 2020 may have cost the Packers a Super Bowl run. He missed the whole 2021 season (save for a few snaps in Week 17) and only appeared in 11 games in 2022.

Many fans and pundits believe Green Bay will release him in 2024, the final year of his deal, in order to save $19 million. Bakhtiari does not appear to be interested.

If Bakhtiari returns to Green Bay next season, the Packers may want to draft a future left tackle in the 2025 NFL Draft. LT is undoubtedly one of the positions that the Packers must consider in the coming season or two.
