Dan Campbell said he would play his full arsenal against Minnesota. Ninety minutes before kickoff, he benched one of the leaders of the Lions’ defensive line.
John Cominksy is a healthy scratch for the regular-season finale against the Vikings at Ford Field. It’s unclear whether this is performance-based, or just a bit of rest for a high-use veteran before the start of the playoffs next week. Cominsky has played 569 defensive snaps this season, the most of any Lions edge rusher not named Aidan Hutchinson. He has two sacks, eight quarterback hits and 29 pressures this season.
As Campbell promised, the rest of the starters will be uniform despite having little to play for, including safety Ceedy Duce and defensive tackle Alim McNeill. The Lions are likely the No. 3 seed for the playoffs, and would need losses from Philadelphia and Dallas today to move up to No. 2, in addition to a win against the Vikings.
Receiver Jameson Williams (ankle/illness), edge rusher Charles Harris, quarterback Hendon Hooker, tight end Brock Wright (hip), cornerback Steven Gilmore and defensive tackle Brodric Martin are the rest of the inactives.
Williams is considered day-to-day with his injury, and is expected to return in time for the playoff opener at Ford Field.
Hooker will again be in uniform as the emergency No. 3 quarterback. He can only play if Jared Goff and Teddy Bridgewater get hurt.
Minnesota’s inactives: Cornerback Byron Murphy Jr., cornerback Mekhi Blackmon, quarterback Jaren Hall, safety Theo Jackson, guard Ed Ingram, tackle Brian O’Neill and defensive lineman Jaquelin Roy.
