The club acknowledged this in a statement yesterday [Tuesday, January 23rd], and the winger is allegedly set to receive $300,000 upon his departure.
Despite this, the winger remains eager in joining a new club, and it was evident after his release that he would be connected with Super League clubs. Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils have quota spots available.
Salford even needs a winger after losing Ken Sio and Joe Burgess. Nofoaluma would be a perfect replacement and is considering a move to the Super League.
So, may we see the winger in the UK with Salford or Warrington in 2024, or could an NRL team make a bid for him? One club has ruled themselves out, despite having roster space and an injury worry to solve.
NRL considering a move to Super League
The Super League trophy was presented to St Helens’ James Roby, Wigan Warriors’ Jai Field, Catalans Dragons’ Sam Tomkins, Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis, Castleford Tigers’ Gareth Widdop, Warrington Wolves’ Matty Ashton, Leeds Rhinos’ Kruise Leeming, Huddersfield Giants’ Jake Connor, Salford Red Devils’ Ryan Brierley, Hull FC’s Tex Hoy, Wakefield Trinity’s Kelepi Tanginoa, and Leigh Leopards’ Edwin Ipape.
With Corey Allan of the St George Illawarra Dragons suffering a season-ending ACL injury, the Dragons still have some roster spots open, but they will not consider adding recently terminated winger David Nofoaluma.
David Nofoaluma, who has been with the Tigers since 2013, has had a turbulent last 24 months with the club. On Tuesday, he was eventually fired by mutual agreement.
He could have come in front of a board meeting on Wednesday evening to address two recent breaches, but instead chose to accept a $300,000 settlement for the remaining two years of his contract.
As a result, the winger became a free agent late in the preseason. According to Zero Tackle, he intends to pursue opportunities in both the NRL and the English Super League.
